Tisa Collier (Peterson) Obituary
On July 2, 2023, Tarlisa Ann (Peterson) Collier passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.
Tisa was born on August 14, 1972, in Manila, Philippines, and she was joyfully adopted by the Peterson family on June 11, 1973. Her older sister affectionately nicknamed her Tisa when she couldn’t pronounce her full name. After the Petersons returned to the US, Tisa was sealed to her family on March 28, 1975, in the Manti Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She spent four formative years in Aurora, Colorado before settling in Henderson, Nevada, where she forged lifelong friendships. Renowned for her big hair and even bigger personality, Tisa attended Vo-Tech High School and completed the cosmetology program. From the tender age of 10, she fearlessly practiced her hair-styling skills on her dad and brother. On February 17, 1996, she married Perryn Collier in the Las Vegas Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and together, they embarked on a journey that led them to Albuquerque, New Mexico, Yigo, Guam, and finally, Phoenix, Arizona. Along this path, they were blessed with three children: Tyson, Peyton, and Risa.
Throughout the various places she called home, Tisa left behind a trail of kindness, inclusivity, and Christ-like service. As a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she exemplified the virtues of service, faith, and charity, while her infectious laughter brought joy to all around her. In October 2012, Tisa was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer, but she refused to let the disease define her. With unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, she embraced the mantra: “I have faith in Him. I have hope through Him. I have fight in me.” She courageously battled the illness, not just for herself but also for her cherished family and friends. Even amidst her own struggles, she dedicated herself to supporting others facing similar challenges, offering encouragement and heartfelt prayers. Though she knew she might not ring the cancer-free bell herself, she eagerly awaited the triumphant moments when others would.
One of Tisa’s cherished hymns was “I Will Follow God’s Plan,” whose lyrics resonated deeply with her:
“My life is a gift; my life has a plan. My life has a purpose; in heav’n it began. My choice was to come to this lovely home on earth, And seek for God’s light to direct me from birth… I will work, and I will pray; I will always walk in his way.”
Throughout her earthly trials, Tisa truly lived by these words, constantly putting others’ needs before her own, and spreading kindness, love, and support to all who were fortunate enough to encounter her radiant spirit.
Tisa leaves behind her beloved husband, Perryn; her children Tyson (Blake) Collier, Peyton Collier, and Risa Collier; her parents Glenn LeRoy and Shirley Ann Peterson; and her siblings Melany (Danny) Robbins and Jothan (Regan) Peterson.
Her final resting place will be at Phoenix Memorial Park, Phoenix, Arizona, where she will be laid to rest on July 21, 2023. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on the same day at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 5104 W. Pinnacle Peak Road, Glendale, Arizona 85310.

Why Not to Give Up, Everyday Miracles
I want to share with you WHY I believe what I believe. I know many of you may not have not had a singular, spectacular moment when your testimony was born; rather it grew from moment to moment. For me my belief is founded on remembering experiences I have had.
The Miracles of Leila Jane
This is the story of our daughter Leila Jane. It tells how she came into our lives, how many miracles surrounded her adoption story, and what I learned from the experience. It is an actual father to daughter letter I wrote on the way home on the airplane from picking her up in Alabama. Normally I don’t share things like this but it is such an amazing story and the fact that so many others were involved in bits and pieces of the story that I wanted them to see the whole picture. *Many [Names] have been changed to protect the identity and privacy of others.
It Will Begin In My Sanctuary
I had a strange dream about a week ago with someone telling me several times over and over ‘It will begin in my sanctuary.’ I have no idea what it means if anything at all but the only reference I could find close to it is in Ezekial Chapter 9.
The Leafbug Miracle
Ha, I bet that got your attention. What do leafbugs and miracles have anything to do with each other at all? Well I will tell you a story about a little leafbug that changed my outlook on life a recently.
Dream of Christians Being Murdered
July 29th, 2014: In this dream the first part my cousin came to me and he looked scared and worried. He said he had been having horrible dreams of the future and he told a few people but they mocked him and made fun of him. He wanted to tell someone about them but was scared to do so. I told him he could tell me and I would not ridicule him for it and they were probably from God.
The Atonement by Cleon Skouson
This is a good talk I came across from a friend. Remember he is not a general authority, but the way he elaborates on scriptures about the atonement makes a lot of sense. The atonement is such a hard concept to understand anyway but this seemed to shed some light on it for me. Enjoy!
Geneaology & Temple Work – Random Notes of My Thoughts
Temple Work & Genealogy
- In my patriarchal blessing talks about how I would feel the great spirit of Elijah; I thought it was a mistake until now.
- About 6 months ago I started feeling very strong I should get into genealogy and temple work. I inherited about 8 binders of genealogy that my grandmother worked on while she was alive until she passed away in 1994. Read More…
Fireballs in the Sky Dream
A dream I had on 4/28/14. It was a very short dream but seemed real. I was at my home and it was just starting to get dark at dusk, yet still bright enough outside to see clearly. The weather was in the 70’s outside and it seemed like a nice summer evening. I had the impression that there was some big event that night and it was on the news. There was to be an amazing meteor shower, unlike almost nothing we had ever seen before so everyone started going outside of their houses to look at the sky and wait for it to come. Read More…
Israel Camp, Mormon Pioneers, Latter Day Saints, and Quail
Today in sunday school we had a very good lesson about Moses and the Israelites wandering in the wilderness. We spoke about how they kept ‘looking back’ to Egypt, even though they had been praying for generations to be freed and they finally were now they were upset they were gone and wanted to go back.
